When can I visit?
We are open the first and third Sundays of the month from 1:00-4:00 PM or by appointment.

Is there an admission fee?
Admission is free.

Is the museum handicap accessible?
While access to our second-floor displays is limited due to stairs in two of the three buildings, a video documentary of our museum with all our displays, buildings, and grounds can be viewed by anyone who is unable to climb stairs. The cookhouse is easily accessible without the use of stairs or ramps. There is a ramp at the entrance to the Compton House for access to the first floor. There is a handicap accessible porta pot behind the Compton House.

Is there someplace nearby to eat?
The Mauricet River Diner is about two miles away at 3830 Route 47 Port Elizabeth, NJ. The Oyster Cracker Café located in the Bayshore Center at Bivalve is also an excellent place to eat. The setting is scenic as well as historic. Sunday hours are11:00AM -3:00PM. There are several venues nearby in Millville, Vineland and Fortescue. No food or drink is allowed in the museum.

Do you allow pets?

Pets are not allowed on the property or in the buildings. Service animals are permitted.

What is the main focus of the collection?
The main focus of the collection is to celebrate the rich maritime history of Mauricetown and the local cultural and architectural character of the region.

Does the museum have Wi-Fi?
Yes. The password is available in the library.

Are there guided tours?
Docents are available during visiting hours or by appointment.

What type of research material do you have?

We have books on local and New Jersey history and geography as well as an extensive collection of genealogical records of families in the area. Books may be examined on site but cannot be removed from the library.
